I was talking to one of my best friends, Jade, on a trip back from Newcastle where we were talking about how we have an identical (and epic) music taste. As we were working through our incredible playlist, I began to realise that I had finally began enjoying music again.

When I was depressed, I stopped listening to music. Music, the thing that literally filled the radio airways everyday as I drove to and from work. The thing that was plugged into my ears everyday at work. Yet, I wasn’t listening.

I didn’t realise for a long long time until I heard a song on the radio, I think it was ‘The Whole of the Moon by the Waterboys‘ and I literally shouted ‘TUNE’ in my car. I sang so loud that I gave myself a headache and I thought to myself – it’s been a long time since I’ve done this.

I think the title of this article is appropriate because the thing that makes you dance, makes you sing, is music. If you’re not singing, dancing or at least awkwardly tapping your foot then something may be wrong (or your listening to the best of Cliff Richard B-sides CD). I didn’t realise until it was too late and I feel, for me anyway, music is something that is too important to not enjoy.

Music can so easily cheer me up when I’m down so I thought I’d put together 10 of my favourite songs at the moment for you guys to enjoy! Feel free to comment if you have any songs that you think are such TUNES that they must be added and I’ll add them when I do my next edit.

So here goes…

Lauren’s Summer Feel Good TUNE AFTER TUNE Playlist…

  1. False Alarm – Fatoma & Becky Hill
Just a great summery song – made to dance to.
  2. Perfect – Bibi Bourelly
This is so soulful and modern- I love it! It makes me want to pretend to be in a music video and strut around my bedroom.
  3. South Side – Moby
This was requested in our usually super cheesy Friday sing-along sessions. Turns out it’s pretty cool!
  4. Get Ur Freak On/Keep Me – Missy Elliot Vs. The Black Keys
The coolest mash up of all time. I heard this on the Bad Neighbours soundtrack and I haven’t found a version out of YouTube yet. This is the definition of a ‘cool’ song.
  5. Elephant Stone – The Stone Roses
One of my favourite Stone Roses songs and after seeing them in Manchester a couple of months ago, it reminded me of exactly why I love them!
  6. Set You Free – Frightened Rabbit
A cover of one of my favourite summer songs by one of my favourite bands. It’s so chilled – it’s well worth a listen.
  7. Ain’t Got No (I Got Life) – Nina Simone
Everyone knows the words and whether it reminds you of how lucky you are to be alive or just that you want a Muller corner then it’s a winner in my books.
  8. Van Gogh – Seafoal
The song that was played on Radio 1 the other night; Seafoal is an incredibly talented and up and coming artist.
  9. Boys That Sing – Viola Beach
Ever since I heard Chris Martin’s incredibly touching tribute at Glastonbury, I can’t stop listening to this song.
  10. A Thousand  Miles – MNEK
One of my best friends recommended this song and described it as ‘a great motivational gym song’. As I haven’t touched the gym in months, it’s just a great ‘get up and get going’ song.

So there it is… my first playlist! I’d really love to know what you think or what your feel good summer songs are at the moment! Enjoy šŸ™‚

Positive of the day: I am going to camp on Lytham Green later with my two best friends to try and have a listen to the King of the North – Noel Gallagher!
